Barrier-free Infrastructure


With the recent trends of universal access to education ,the dept of education has been trying its best to make it a barrier free. Its prime motto is to enable people with disabilities to move safely and freely and to use the facilities within the built environment. It also correlates to the recent inclusive education. However, the dept has barrier free infrastructure at two levels:

1. The design of the building and the strarecase of the ground floor.

2. Availability of digital resources(interactive board, projector) in almost each classrooms and Labs which anyone with proper permission can use it .The vision is to maximum utilisation of available resources for utmost benefit or what we term as sustainability.

Digital / Smart Classroom


The aim of education is not only to impart education but update the youngsters as per the positive demand of the society .The present society demands individuals Not only having the knowlegde of book but also the expertise of handling and manipulating the technological ways of learning . At par with the demand, the dept has been trying to update the classrooms with advanced technological tools and gadgets to cater to the needs of both the professors and the learners . The classrooms are well equipped with interactive with board/ projectors where effective teaching takes place . These classrooms are used for cooperative learning also. Moreover, presentations of the students,research scholars ,teacher educators are done through these ways. It not only builds a confidence in them to be expert in handling but also effective use of ICT for better understanding.

Conferrence Hall


The department has well designed conference hall with the latest furniture and modern equipments to create professional environment. It has modern interior with Air Conditioning, Projector, Television, Lectern and Internet Connectivity. It Provides facilities for organizing workshops, seminars, academic meetings etc.

Laboratory for Science Pedagogy


Lab plays an important role in teaching- leaning of science .keeping in view of the necessity, the dept added a science laboratory for science pedagogy of b.ed trainees. It aims to give them the first hand experience manipulation and observation of the materials .It has well furnished booths for individual learner with chemicals kept in lock and key drawers. New apparatuses are being included as per change. An attempt is made to provide them an environment that is fun, friendly and colourful, yet safe will make it an excellent learning space for curious young minds.

Resource Room for Social Science Pedagogy


Our department has a well organised and well maintained resource room for pedagogy of social science. It envisages at providing the student-teachers a support for quality instructional aids that are necessary in teaching -learning of social science. It aims at providing a scope to the pre-service student-teachers to use their critical and creative thinking capacities and bring out innovative ideas that can be brought down to a concrete resource for social science teaching. Moreover, it also helps them to have a practical understanding of sustainability in terms of products used for making and it's use in real life teaching. The resources are prepared keeping in view that these can be used by the student-teachers while working as intern in schools. It has all the necessary resources developed by student-teachers viz. charts,maps, models(working and static) etc. along with some collections.These are prepared keeping in view the recent demands, aims, objectives and standards outlined by the social science curriculum.The resources available in the resource room encompasse the wide range of social science disciplines - Political Science (civics), Economics, History, Geography etc.

ICT Lab


The department has a well structured and maintained ICT lab to cater to the needs of the enthusiastic learners and teachers.The aim is to make them digitally fit for the upcoming days and to keep them updated .It has following facilities.

1. Several configured computers with internet facility.

2. Multimedia system linked with LCD Projector is permanently installed in the classroom for the benefit of the students.

3. The seats are individualistic where each learner has individual LCD computers.

This ICT Lab is available to all needy students for study and research works.

Psychology Lab


The department has a well equipped and maintained psychology lab. As various courses offered by the department has papers related to psychology, in order to have a real experience of testing it has built it . It fulfils the needs of M.A, B ed, M.ed and research scholars to some extent. It has individual sitting arrangement so that students can perform their task without any interference. It is equipped with some apparatuses including various TAT & Roresarch Cards, Memory drum, mirror drawing etc. that are helpful in testing various psychological aspects of an individual. Thus the laboratory becomes instrumental in giving the students the practical knowledge of educational psychology .

Geography Lab


Learning the practical aspects are important for some subjects and geography is one of them. To provide a better understanding of the physical features,locations, demography etc. the dept has one well furnished and equipped geography lab. It works both as lab and resource room for geography and exclusive to the students of b ed who selected Teaching of Geography as pedagogy. It has different types of maps, charts, models along with map drawing tools and apparatus. The arrangement of the seats are individualistic where each one can conduct practical works without any discomfort.

Library


In this era of advanced technology and hyper connection , there are many things which have yet it's utility and relevance intact in the traditional form. Library is one such space that has its utmost relevance. It is considered not only as the path towards information but also a medium of transmission and preservation of culture. The 35th US President, John F. Kennedy stated, “If this nation is to be wise as well as strong, if we are to achieve our destiny, then we need more new ideas for more wise men reading more good books in more public libraries. These libraries should be open to all—except the censor." From the statement it is clear that Library is not only a place where books are collected and stored,rather, a resource that helps to learn,become educated, generate ideas, inculcate values,morals and ultimately brings a desired change in behaviour that helps to form a society enamoured with reason,intellect,values,morality and necessary positive thinking.
Educational institutions are places where behaviour of the people are shaped and reshaped, knowledge and skills are inculcated and the practices and norms to live in a civil society are taught. As libraries are the repository of such good things , thus having one well equipped and active library seems to the primary pre-requisite for any educational institution. It not only provides the resources to cater the curriculum needs but also the opportunities for cultivate the mind,feed the soul and germinate innovative ideas .Therefore, Alberto Manguel once said “Maybe this is why we read, and why in moments of darkness we return to books: to find words for what we already know."
Keeping in view of such pertinence of library, our department also has one to help and assist students and teachers to read,think,brainstorm ideas,practice good skills and ultimately to learn not for mere knowledge only learn to grow as a vital human being as well.
The department has a well stocked library, which caters to the immediate need of the students as well as researchers. Library is open for all the members of the department on all the working days of the week. Students can use the Online Library Portal to look for books and materials from anywhere.

Sport Facility


Education aims at holistic development of learners. For that students are expected to excel in academia as well as extra curricular activities .Sports is one of them.Keeping in view of such felt needs, the dept provides various sports facilities. The facilites are generally two dimensional .they are as follows

1. Spatial : The dept as a spacious front place which is used for games like handball, badminton etc.Moreover the playground just infront of it is a bonus where the students of the department can easily practice any game.

2. Equipment needs: the department provides various facility to the students in regard to the game kits and equipments like bat,ball,shoes,stamps,knee pads etc .These are well maintained and kept with utmost care in the sports room.

Research Scholar Room


The department has a spacious, well ventilated and conducive research scholars room separately. It has individualised seat facilities along with other facilities necessary to continue their research.

Students Common Room


William Lyon Phelps views that those who use leisure time effectively are the happiest persons in this world. Therefore students should be taught to use leisure time effectively. The students' common room of our department helps the students from this aspect. To provide the students of the department a place not only to relax but to have positive discussion and engagement, out department has a common room for students. It is equipped with newspapers,various indoor game items such as carom,chess etc. Boys as well as the girls have the equal access to it where they can together learn the value of time and it's utilisation. Moreover, it is also kept under the surveillance so that students don't waste time merely playing or relaxing.

Canteen


The department has a separate hygienic and well maintained canteen adjacent to the main building. It is one of the favourite hub for tea and food lovers.Junk foods are strictly prohibited here. Moreover eco friendly steps such as minimal adoption of plastics and fibre disposables are used in serving foods. It provides its facility to the members of the dept from 9.30am - 5pm except in holidays .

Orchid Garden


Gardens with various plants and flowers are necessary component that invigorates the mind of the people within the premise.
The dept has a very beautifully planned and well maintained garden infront of each class. Varities of flowers keep on blooming throughout the year that excites the minds with a sense of peace .The aura of the garden is a feast to the eyes. The rows of the hedges ,the blooming rose and daliah often catch the eye of the beholder. sometimes the bunch of flowers become hub of the butterflies which adds extra to its scenic beauty .The air invigorates the mild scent of the flowers in each corner of the dept. Along with the flowers and plants there are some fruit trees like Indian malberry,peach etc . These are pruned and watered every daily and fertilizers and soil are changed as per need. All and all ,the aesthetic aura of it is the soul to the department.
